Scruffy Is HAPPY!!

Finally I have finished my scratch project. Scruffy thanks all the dog trainers who play my game.
It's called Good Boy Scruffy!!
I realised it is very difficult to give a computer instructions. It's like they're stupid or something and you need to be extremely specific.
I changed my original idea and I have 7 different levels but on the same background. In each level the frisbee goes faster and smaller. In the end it gets very difficult to get the frisbee.
Scruffy is l0cated in the w drive, 9ist, T_4 project, Good Boy Scruffy.

I tried to use all the different options of instructions like motion, variables, control, sensing, sound and looks. A difficulty was that I had one extra long script for the frisbee and had to use repeat until instead of forever so I was able to stop the script in the end. I changed some of my original ideas as they were a bit hard to accomplish in the little time I had such as changing backgrounds and the dog returning the frisbee to his owner. Instead, the background stays as a beach and the frisbee automatically returns to the owner once the dog touches the frisbee. It also only takes one touch of catch of the frisbee to get to thenext level not 3.

To control Scruffy you use the right and left aroow keys as well as the spacebar to jump.
Have fun playing at the beach with Scruffy!

How to Catch a frisbee!!

This is a brainstorm of ideas I have on the idea for my assignment

The main charcter of the game is going to have a dog running on a beach that the game player can control it with the arrows.

The aim of the game is to make the dog run around on one level of the screen and get the blue frisbee that flies around the screen bouncing off the edges of the screen. I'm not sure if it should fly around random parts of the screen or just on one level. It probably would be easier and less complicated for me to make if it was on one level.

The game player would earn points by making the dog catch the frisbee in it's mouth by pressing the spacebar to jump as the dog is one level and can't run through the sky. The dog will then return it to the owner standing on the other side of the screen who will only appear when the dog has actually caught the frisbee. When you catch the frisbee each time it will earn you 1 point. So the game lasts longer when you earn 3 points on that level you will proceed to the next level. In each level the background will be different and the fisbee behaving in a different way.

1st level-very easy, slow frisbee on 1 level of the screen

2nd level-frisbee moderate speed, frisbee still on 1 level of the screen

3rd level-frisbee fast, frisbee still on 1 level of the screen.

4th level-frisbee moderate speed alternating between 2 levels of the screen as well as going side to side

5th level-frisbee very fast and alternating between 2 levels of the screen and maybe the dog has to find the owner by answering some sort of yes or no question.

OMG...A flying hippo!!

This was a funny tutorial because I got to make animals talk and I understood them like Doctor DoLittle. All I did was insert a background and 2 sprites. I then made a script for the duck to talk when the person clicked it. So it wasn't too fast or too slow I just made the words viewed for a 2 second period of time.

Control the Kitty OR Kitty go Crazy!

This tutorial was fun and Very simple. I just chose the key to choose, the direction it had to point in when that arrow was pressed. I needed it to actually move when it was pressed. I didn't want to make it move too fast so I said it should go 10 steps. I also did some editing to the background and made it look like the cat was walking on top of something.

Parrot flying.....flying Parrot

This was a pretty easy task compared to the shark and fish. All I did was find the 2 costumes of the parrot make them switch but wait between each so it wouldn'tgo too fast. Again I had to make sure it wasn't on the rotate button but on the only face left or right buttton. It worked well but I need to find a way to make it smoother as it seems to be hesitating between every switch of the costumes. To do this I made the wait between costumes a bit shorter and had the parrot take more steps.
To make it a bit more interesting I added a background as well.

Chomp, Chomp

This tutorial was a bit difficult but I discovered that if you double click on the score on the stage you have 3 options for what it looks like. One is just a number by itself, another says score and the actual score next to it, and another is where you can set the score back to 0.

Firstly, I imported the shark and the small fish. I had to make a variable which I named score. I then just made it randomly run around every where but not to randomly so I changed the pick random from 30 to 20 degrees. So both the fish and shark wouldn't fly off the edge I put an if on edge bounce block in. I then made the score cange by 1, the small fish scream and the shark to wait and move back -100 steps to let the small fish get away again. This was all done when the shark or the small fish bumped into each other.

The script was different for the shark and the fish. The small fish was simpler and it differed from the shark as I had to make the shark slower than the fish so it had acjance to catch it but faster by moving it 8 steps compared to the fish who was 5. I also made the shark scream instead of the small fish but it still worked anyway. So they wouldn't swim into no man's land and off the underwater stage I made them bounce if they touch the edge. I know that fish can't swim upside down so I had to make sure the 'only face left or right button' was clicked above the scripts and not the 'can rotate' button.

Round and ROund we go!!

This one is so hilarious, who knew making a squirells head go round and round could be so much fun. This one was very simple all I did was make the squirells head move wherever the mouse was. The blue option called sensing only works when it is joined in with something like the mouse x with set whirl effect. So it didn't only whirl once I made it go forever.

Gliiiiiiiiide!!

This was so cool I really liked it. Instead of making a ghost glide I made a buttterfly glide because I realised that some sprites don't change colour like ghosts. I wanted to make the sprite change colour every time it hit an edge and the butterfly would change colour. I mad ethe gliding go forever and after I entered the co-ordinates and seconds I wanted it to glide for or how fast I wanted it to go I put the change colour after every one. I imported a flower background so it looked like the butterfly was sitting on each of the flowers.

Cat and Mouse

I thought this cat and mouse one was too good not to take
a screen shot of. I was only meant to make the run but cats don't run when they're not chasing something becuase they are lazy. So I drew a mouse and made it the 'cat' of the tutorial as I made the mouse do the same steps as the cat. Point towards mouse but I
said to move 10 steps instead of 3 steps so it was fair and I made that go forever when clicked. I then made the cat instead of following the mouse I made it follow the sprite 2 that I drew so it looked like the cat was chasing the mouse.

Ya, Ya, Ya

This was a tutorial that taught you how to move people's bodies and put a sound to it at the same time. I imported a person sprite and went to control and imported when v key pressed. Then went to the sound ection and imprted a song or vocal called Ya. After that I went to the pinky purple section and chose play ya until done, I went to the purple section whick was looks and set whirl to 50. You shouldn't put the wait on for too long because it will look wierd. So 0.25 is good. You then set whirl to so it doesn't keep whirling around and makes the human look unatural but just return it to it's normal position.
Is this all you need to do-Ya, Ya, Ya!!

OOOOOOOh pretty colours!!!

There has been an amazing discovery if you right click and press save instead of print screening the scrpts column it just copies the script not the whole thing. This was a fun one although I thought I had to edit the butterfly sprite and change it myself ut it's quick and easy. All I did was go to the control section and press the orange icon that says when space key pressed although you can choose any key (right). Then I went to Looks and press the change colour effect by 25. AND....
OOOOOh pretty colours!!!

Angry Ghost Happy Ghost

I looked at the first tutorial and it seemed pretty simple. I watched some videos on youtube of how to use scratch as well. The first things I did was insert a ghost sprite. I wanted to make the ghost lokk angry as well but there was no angry ghost sprite so I edited the costume and drew some angry eybrows. I then inserted a background that I learnt from the videos that I watched. I then said when clicked in control, forever. Sitched to costume number 1 in looks, wait 1 second, flip 90 degrees in sensing. Then I switched to costume 2, wait 1 second and turn 90 degrees. It keeps you laughing.

The 7th Window

These are some of the questions we had to answer on the new Windows 7. By the way these answers were written on "PAPER" (which sir told us we would never use) and put onto the blog later on.

1.)What versions is Windows 7 available in?

There are 6 versions

-Home premium-Professional-Ultimate-OEM-Enterprise and Startup

2.)Describe some of the features of the new task bar.

-You can mouse over one program and all the windows associated with it will appear

-You can hover over a program for full size and click on it to bring to front

-There are large easy to see icons

-You can have 2 windows to fill the desktop size

-Big Button size for easier click, click, clicking away. This is very helpful for people who have touch screens

3.)What are jump lists and how are they useful?

Jump lists are where you right click or left click and drag any program icon that is on the ask bar to see a list of files that you've used lately in that certain program. It is useful as it helps make recently opened and used files easier to get to.

4.)How can one quickly size 2 windows to fill the desktop side by side?

All you do is drag one task thataway(left side of screen) and another to the other thataway(rught side of screen). They will automatically resize to haplf of your screen each. If you drag it away from the edge it will return to normal size.

5.)Research the 9 multi touch gestures that Windows 7 uses.

These gestures can be used for people who have windows 7 and are touch or non touch screen users.

Tap and Double Tap-clicking and double clicking

Panning with Inertia- scrolling, moving the pae up or down with your fingers, sometimes it has a little bounce at the end to tell you it's the bottom of the page

Selection /Drag- like a mouse drag and selection but moving your fingers across the screen. It is used to drag icons around the desktop, move windows and select text.

Press and Tap with second finger- like right clicking but using your second finger

Zoom-like the Ctrl key+Scrolll wheel. You pinch 2 fingers together or apart to zoom in or out of a document. Useful for reading things on a small laptop. Works in applictaions that support mouse wheel zooming.

Rotate-touch 2 spots on a digital photo and twist to rotate it. Move 2 fingers in a different direction or one finger can pivot around another. Applications need to add code to support this.

2 Finger Tap-tapping with 2 fingers zooms in around the middle of where you tapped. It can also restore to the default zoom. It is really useful for zooming in on hyperlinks. Applications need to add code to support this.

Press and Hold- same as right click. Press doen on the screen and release after the animation has appeared. Same as press and tap.

Flicks-flicking left or right to go forward or backward in a browser and other applications. It works in applications that support back and forward.

6.) What is XP mode. What users would find this feature most useful?
XP mode is used to run older programs and is useful for prople who work with 10 thousand million documents and needs to find them faster. It makes longer snippets, so searching for them is easier. It gives you more information and highlights the snippet more clearly.

7.)What feature related to removable drives has Windows 7 removed in a bid to increase security.
When you plug your USB or hard drive in it doesn't run them automatically anymore so there is less infections.

8.) What are the minimum hardware requirements for Windows 7.
1GHz processor, 1 or 2GB RAM, 16-20GB of free space on your hard drive and a directX 9 graphics device.

9.) What observations does the article offer regarding performanc for Windows 7?
-Sometimes it is the slowest out of Windows XP and Vista
-It is the fastest to shutdown
-Windows 7 RTM ties with XP for Itunes encoding
-Slower than XP and Vista for booting up cold by a bit more than 1 second
-Feels faster when loading programs, opening the control panel, dragging icons, files and folders around than XP

Why doesn't this thing do what I want it to DO?

Algorithm- A form of solving a problem with a set of steps that you have to follow. The steps must be certain and accurate as well as having a clear stopping point. E.g. making a cake where you follow the procedure

Pseudocode-A computer program that needs to be converted to a code so that the computer can understand it before it can be used. It does this by using certain steps and stopping points(algorithm)

Machine language-A code that is built into the hardware of a computer. It is a system of instructions or data that the CPU performs and there is no need for translating it before using it.

High level computer language- It is more resourceful and capable of doing more things than the machine language, hence the high. They are considered high level becuase they are closer to human languages and further from machine. It is a type of computer programming language that isn't limited by the type of computer or the one specific job that needs to be done. It is more easily understood.

Flow chart- Also called a flow sheet that is a detailed diagram or chart of the operations through which material passes.

The beginning and ending or terminator symbols of a flowchart are lozenges, ovals or rounded rectangles. They normally have some sort of indication inside it telling you it's the start or the end.

Decisions are questions or branches in the process. They are represented as a diamond.

The process symbol is a rectangle. it is an operation action or step.

This is a flow chart of how an air conditioner works. It's not perfect because it doesn't have an end but it's pretty good.

Scrappy the Online Dog Blogger came through

Man, all the backgrounds that are free aren't very good. The really spectacular ones cost money and that's money I don't have. Another problem with scrapblog I found that I didn't think was a problem at first was the timing of saving and publishing. Man, it was frustrating how long it took. Another problem was you have to wait for the sticker, background to load onto the side toolbar before you can close the application for where you got it from or it will go into no mans land. Thankgoodness that my information wasn't deleted by scrapblog like some other people's were.

Once upon a time I didn't save my work and the internet shutdown on me as well as the scrapblog I was working on. I opened it up and wasted 2 more hours on retyping the information. From that moment on I saved my work after every page I created.

I fixed other problems as well such as my anger, rage and impatience. I became more careful and wary about what I was doing using scrapblog.

Overall, the decision to choose scrapblog was really good one, we chose it for it's mad, awesome, cool personalisation tools, the ease of adding information and other multimedia and the ease of navigation and straightforwardness of scrap blog. We discovered things on the way some were staring us in the face like instead of making a link to eachothers blog we could add a page from our other scrapblog's.
GOOD DOG!!!

Alelluia!!!

Angels are singing finally I finished my scrapblog, It was so hard to STOP personalising I was addicted to it I feel as if I need to go to one of those groups where you have confessions of what you are addicted to. The information was the hardest to find but eventually I got there I even added videos. I really like the turnout.

We Put the 'U' in CP'U'!!

1.)What is the function of a CPU?

It is a Central Processing Unit or a microprocessor is like a computer engine that performs different methods and calculations all within a single chip.

2.)What was the name of the first CPU?

Intel 4004 which was used in 1971. It wasn't very powerful all it could do was add and subtract and it was very slow because it could only do maths 4 bits at a time.

3.)Referring to the graph on page 2 of the article, describe how the speed of CPU's has changed.

All of the features have increased to perform more things ata faster rate. For example in 1974 the clock speed was 2MHz and it's name was 8080 this means 2 milliopn cycles per second. Compared to 2004 the Pentium 4 "Prescott" is 3.6 GHz which is 3.6 billion cycles per second. WOooooooWWW

4.)What does MIPS measure?
It stands for Millions of Instructions Per Second. Wow it's like one day when the teachers will try to shove heaps and heaps and heaps and heaps of information in our minds per second. I reckon our brains would explode. It measures the performance of the CPU. Just like judges.

5.) A dual Core Processor is a CPU that has 2 execution cores that work independently all in one chip. Since they are independent workers and not in a group if one fails the other can pick the program that is opened right back up again. This is why the execution cores are really good at multitasking which is when the CPU can perform different jobs and run different programs at the same time.

The Intel Atom.

Oh my Gosh................it is so samll less than 26mm in area. It is designed to be able to have the internet cappability of a normal computer, to last long so there is no need to charge it up. It is used in the latest mobile internet devices including netbooks and nettops. It has a massive amount of power for a tiny little thing and the company think it will be a big hit.

Scrappy the online DogBlogger

I've spent some time with Scrappy the DogBlogger and I think he's a good candidate for our ist assignment.
Good Things about Scrappy
-Heaps of applications to personalise and easy to use
-visually asthetic or eye catching
-Fun to personalise to make us more enthusiastic about our work
-Nicole and I can both log on and edit at the same time so we are able to get more work done
-Soon there will be the ability to print the scrap blog just in caswe sir is unable to view it

Bad Things about Scrappy
-There is no menu to tell the reader the content
-Some appl;ications you have to pay for
-It takes a fair bit of time to personalise
-It's more of a slideshow type blog

Overall Scrappy is quite good

Page Flakes or Fish Food

Page Flakes reminds me of fish food for some unknown reason.

1. A 'flake' is a piece of fish food that you feed your pet goldfish. Just joking! A'flake' in page flakes is an application tool that you can add to your page to personalise it. Such things are video toolbar, news reports, blogging station, weather, email, music toolbar e.t.c. Although with the video toolbar you can't put your own videos on it.
2.A page cast is when you publish your page so others can get applications or information off them. They allow you to send them to others and add them to your own page.
3.We could use a pagecast to show our information to others in our class more easily. We could also get information from others who have page casted and that could also help to personalize our page.
Advantages of Pageflakes
-we are both able to log on and edit at the same time.
-It has a sort of blogging sticky note application tool that will help us type our information
-It's very straight forward and easy to figure out how to use
-There is many flakes that we can put onto our page
-Create other pages to organize the information
-The blogging flake automatically minimizes if there is a lot of information and the viewer can click on 'more' to expand the information
-It's free
-You can create the backround of your page and make it more personalised.
Disadvantages of Pageflakes
-We can only put the flakes in certain areas of the page. There is only a fixed position and that's in a column or a row
-If you wanted to upload a video you woul have to put it on a website and grab the URL

IN THE FUTURE BUT KIND OF RIGHT NOW.......

Those videos about multimedia were so cool. I hope I'm alive when they finally perfect them. There is less button pushing and more talking. It's like having a small conversation with your TV or phone, that's pretty wierd. Some of these things do kind of exist so this is technically the future but now. Like the GPS that tells you whre to go although it's not as effective as the one in the video you can telll that it is more advanced. There is also ipod connectors in cars now with what seems like wireless earpieces and guess what IN THE FUTURE there won't be any loud parties next door it will be as quiet as a mouse or is it so quiet that you'll be able to hearv a mouse.................. oh I don't know. My favourite was the phone/table. You can transfer music, images and find out directions to somewhere all on the thing that you put your cup of coffee on.
1. I use multimedia with-
*phone

*ipod

*computer

*Television

*Internet

*DVD's

*MSN

*Twitter

*Cameras

2.One piece of multimedia I can't live without

My MOBILE PHONE-

Mobile phone technology is getting more advanced all the time soon you'll be able to do everything on it. Now you can surf the internet, make video calls, take photos, take videos, bluetooth music, get directions and much, much more. Soon you'll be able to stick it under your armpit and it'll tell you if you have fever. That would be wierd. You can do so much on your phone that teacher's convascate it.

3. I think the second video will come true in THE FUTURE...... Maybe some disadvatages would be the fact that people may get to caught up in this technology and focus on it rather than more important things like homework especially for teenagers. Another disadvantage would be that people use this technology so much they laze around all day and do nothing increasing the level of obesity and less social life across the globe. An advantage may be that it would assist us and help us be more organized and on time for our meetings and such. Another advantage would be is that it's fun to use and you get interested and it would inspire people to try and find out more about it.

I had no Idea what I was getting Into!

Who would've thought that painting your room could be so hard.

Step 1-Get all of your stuff out of your room

Well this is harder than it sounds, first you have to clean out your wardrobe. I found stuff that I never knew existed and so many clothes that din't even fit me. Then it's time for underneath the bed-well I guess I'm much bigger then I used to be when I was 5.
Warning-You may get stuck underneath if unaware of your size.
I wish I had that warning before I decided to go under there. Then it's time for your bookcase-There is sooooooo much knowledge at the bookcase but so little time to read them. Next it's time for your desk,
books,
books,
more books,
books,
MmmmmmmMMMmmm Pizza- No just another book
Another Warning-Make sure you have plenty of boxes and Bags
I filled a mixture of at least 15 bags and boxes. I know................. what am I going to use 15 bags and boxes for.
Another Another Warning- Don't keep stuff you know you'll never use-chuck it out.
I haven't actually started painting yet but I'll let you know any other WARNINGS I come across.

It's my Lucky Day!!

Today I finished the actual movie and saved it as a movie on moviemaker. I was a bit worried because some other people's movies wouldn'y save but I guess it is my lucky day. I saved it as best quality first and then the second as a 218kbps. I don't know why we had to save it as 218kbps because it is really bad quality. I wasn't quite sure how to put it on a CD. My first try I tried to send it to the CD, that didn't work. The second time I tried to save it to the CD but guess what all you had to do was click and drag the saved files to the CD and let it do it's thing. I think it's my lucky day.

A Pause in Time Blog - 9

Woooohooo extra time. Sorry that you're sick Sir, but wooohooo extra time. I need to add more pictures or bloopers as the video isn't long enough. I also need to put it onto a CD and guess what I just know that that's going to be a big problem. I think that I'm not going to have the right CD or it won't play on anyone elses computer, something like that. Fingers crossed there won't be a problem!!

RSS - Spy Kid Central!!!

1. RSS is a spy kid central. Noooo just joking it really stands for Really Simple Syndication and to make it even more simpler syndication is where the website material is made available to other people in an easier way. It is the format for distributing news and other web content. When you put content into RSS and it is sent to other people or websites, it is called a feed. RSS is not just used for blogs it can be used for many other website content.

2.A feed is a format used to publish works. Therefore the things that go into a feed is all your updated works that you want publish, such as blogs like the one I am writing now, audio, newsletters and video. You can have a partial feed and a full feed. A partial feed includes a headline and a quick summary with a link to the website where the rest of the content is located. A full feed is when you don't need a link back to the website it is already there in the news reader, therefore there is no need to go back to the website to fetch the content.

3.Feeds keep you updated but they do it in a way where you can manage the flow of information you recieve. There is no need for searching the web the information is sent straight to your desktop.

4.Feeds are different from emails because feeds are relevant to the person reading them. Emails are just throwing things at your face when you don't even want them. They don't want to hear from companies they have dealt with. They want information on their past purchasing habits in a way in which they have the power to control it. RSS feeds are also anonymous so you don't have to give out your email address

5.To read a feed you have to obtain a newsreader or content aggregator. These things offer special features such as combining several related feeds into single view, hiding items the viewer has already seen and categorizing feeds and items, basically making it more organized for you.

6.To find the feeds you want to subscribe to you have to obtain a reader and then there is a little RSS button that will come up in an orange or grey colour that will enable you to view any other updated content as well from that website as a feed.

How Cool is Spy Kid Central ;)

Snip Snap!!! Blog - 8

Tomorrow is my birthday!! I have to get all the editing done on the video before tomorrow because who wants to be doing homework and assignments on their birthday. I did heaps of snips and snaps and cuts and edits and splices. I did all of this on Magix movie edit pro. It has the coolest transitions and you can do heaps with the movie to make it look absolutely awesome. For example there is one where you can put the video in a picture frame that is sitting on a table. I was going to use that but then I didn't because it didn't suit the whole news story theme. I have to get it done before tomorrow.

This is the Last to Get it Right Blog - 7

This is the Last Time to get it Right,
This is the last time to make it our night,
We gotta show what we're all about,
Gotta, Work Together!!
Yeah!
'Lyrics to Now or Never High School Musical 3' (Love it)

Today was our last day of filming. Focus, Focus, Focus. We had a lot to film in very little time but today we were more down to earth than on Wednesday. We filmed the Breaking News section where we thought we were able to use the IST rooms although we couldn't find sir to ask him. We needed the slidy chairs that were in the room, so we had to improvise by sliding on the seats that we sit at to eat. I think my skirt got a big beating. It took a lot of tries for me to stop my skirt getting caught every time I slid in and said 'Breaking News, news, news, news.' We also filmed the weather section where Michaela jumped into view. 'Chances of Showers or not' e.t.c. e.t.c.
The sport section was very funny. We couldn't get a video of the soccer ball hitting a persons head so we inprovised again, using my head as the target but instead of a soccer ball we used a mandarin. This was a lot more softer and squishier and unfortunately the mandarin didn't make it. We also did a couple of bloopers because we finished earlier. it hit my head at first and then the second time Michaela caught it. Thank Goodness. While we were filming we came up with some more ideas to make it even funnier and we all worked together really well.
Some of the bloopers were raining mandarins and interviews with the mandarin and the hand that was squeezing the mandarin.
We worked very hard this lunchtime and got a lot of work done. We couldn't go over to eachother's house on the weekend as we were all busy. Besides it was due the week after and it was
'The last time to get it right,
The last time to make it our night,
To show what we're all about,
NOW OR NEVER!!
Yeah!!'

What we are Heading For (Synopsis) Blog - 6

Since we have finally figured out what we are going to do after THINKING over the weekend, it's time to do a synopsis. Our video is going to be a news segment including the weather, breaking news, a sports section and a reenactment of the cadbury eyebrow advertisement. At the start there is going to be pictures of the people included in the making of the news segment and at the end as well. The purpose of our video is to make people laugh and entertain as well as twisting the real news stories a little bit.

Balloons are so Annoying Blog - 5

Today we started filming.................. Finally. We started off with the advertisement as we didn't have much time during lunch and we needed to film something short. The night before I had downloaded the eyebrow ad music so I could remind everyone of the tune. We started filming and that pink balloon really got on my nerves. I mean, in the real ad it isn't really annoying but for some reason the way that were making it musical was ear piercing. It was like sudden screams were coming from all around you. Anyway I got my anger out before we went on camera and tried to block the noise out.
We had an audition as well to see who could move their eyebrows the best. It turned out with only me moving eyebrows and michelle already blew up the balloon so she was the one who made the small screams.
We did about 10000 million shots, it took forever, at least a lot more than I was expecting. Next time we have to time ourselves better and stop mucking around.
P.S. I'll get you pink balloon you can count on it. HAHAHAHAHAH!!

Practice Makes Perfect Blog - 4

Today we had a run through of what we were doing because I didn't bring the camera. Unfortunately Lenia wasn't here so we just practised the segment. It was quite fun and we all got to know our lines very well. We were very preapared for the real thing. We did a lttle bit of editing as some of it didn't really make sense. We came up with even more ideas for it and went home with some homework which was getting the music for the different segments and things like that.

The More the Merrier!! Blog - 3

THE NEWS STORY we have decided to do a news story............. over a long weekend of thinking we have decided to do a news story.
Today we met again, sir came up to us and talked to us about Micheleee leaving and guess what, it turns out we get to have a new girl in our group."The More the Merrier". Her name is Lenia and I'm sure she'll have some great ideas. I brought the camera in from home and I fiddled around with it to see if it could cope with the noise and the difference in lighting and things like that.
We finished off the script today and collected our parts. Nicole didn't want to be on camera so she was our camera man but Michaela and I were confident enough. Michaela was very good at coming up with ideas for the news story. Ihope the way that we will present those ideas will be funny. We all talked and discussed different ways of presenting the news story and incorporated ideas that we each had. I wonder if we could have a hair and make-up crew, that would be cool. We also decided that next lesson is going to be a run-through.

The Break-up - Blog 2

Today the group got together again and Michelleee had some news to tell us. She was moving to another group and mixing with the other class. Geez Michelle just ditch us.......... Jokes, Jokes it's cool. Luckily we haven't made many decisions or had many discussions because she is leaving but we sort of have an idea in our head and we have to change the roles a little bit but we can deal with it.

I Hate making Decisions-Blog 1

Today was full of making decisions which I am really not good at. We were given our assignments and were told to think about the people in our group. We had to create a movie and the first thing that popped into my head was "FUNNY"!! I had never really made a movie before so I was really excited and I love watching funny movies myself. The people that were in our group were Michaela, Nicole, Michelle and I. We hadn't really thought of an idea yet but we had some little bursts of thoughts such as a short, funny, simple story, a slapstick comedy like cat and mouse, a news documentary including funny news reporters and jokes or maybe even silent movie. Wait scratch that it has to have some sort of narration. Never mind. We could also do something like the show "Who's Line is it Anyway" which is a series of tasks hilarious comedians are asked to do. Or maybe "Thank God You're Here". That movie is one of the funniest shows when it has the right people on it. We are still brain storming, I hope we come up with something. I hate making decisions!!!

Psapp (movie/slideshow)

Hi Sir, this is my movie/slideshow/narrated movie/ok no more /. It incorporates 2 of the tasks 1.5 and 2 Making a movie/slideshow and narrating a movie/slideshow. I bet you're wondering what psapp is. Well, it's the name of the group who sing the song that's playing in the background at the start of like every single Grey's Anatomy episode. Do you watch Grey's Anatomy. If not I would definitely recommend that you start watching it.

This is how I made it.

Well, I just followed the instructions that you gave us..............

Ok,ok firstly I surfed the internet and found some Grey's anatomy pictures of the major things that I remember from what I watched in Grey's anatomy. It took me a while, you'd be surprised it's hard trying to find particular scenes from you're favourite shows as images. Then I saved them all into one folder and imported all of them into moviemaker. I then went to look at some video transitions!!! Yay(sarcastic) there were 'so many of them'. scrolling down and down and down. I eventually chose some simple ones such as checkerboard or bars because I didn't want anything too dramatic, although I did like the different shatter transitions they were cool.

I then went to the narrating task and made my first copy. Well, how bad was that. I had stage fright wait.... or is it computer fright. Anyway, it took me about 7 goes to try and get it right but during that seven I wanted to make my movie with the Grey's anatomy theme song in the background because it sounded a bit weird with just my voice. I tried recording with the sound and then overlapping the original later but it was just a bunch of jibba jabba. I knew it said something about it on the instructions like Mute Speakers this is because it didn't play the audio music track I already had in my movie and I didn't want it playing while I was recording because it would've been unwanted sound. In the end I just played it while I was recording and deleted the original after I was finished the only reason for this was that I tried recording without the music but my voice was too low when I played it with the theme song so playing the theme song while I was recording was much easier to tell if my voice was loud enough. By the way, how do you do make your voice louder and the other piece of music softer? I tried moving the input level slider but it didn't seem to do anything, that I noticed.

Finally when I had my narration done I clicked and dragged it in. I then played it through and saved it to 'My Videos' a 'wmv' file and uploaded it to my blogger and here I am talking to you about it now.

Ohaiyoo1 and Ohaiyoo 2-Video Characteristics

I've learnt that when you upload a video to the internet there are a few things that you need to consider:
-Frame rate

-Colour depth

-Resolution
b).So, I saved the two different 'short videos' as Video for dial up access (38kbps) who's nickname is ohaiyoo1 and Video for IDSN (48kbps) who's nickname is ohaiyoo2. I found that the difference was that ohaiyoo2 was a lot more clearer and the pixels were not very visible to the human eye, the resolution was higher . In Ohaiyoo1 the resolution was very low which made the whole video seem shaky. The colour depth; the number of bits that represent colour in each pixel was not very distinguished which made the overall colour very grey and blended together as a result of the resolution. The video was also very jittery and jumpy because frame rate was very low compared to ohaiyoo2. Ohaiyoo2 the number of bits per pixel or colour depth was very high and gave a broader range of distinct colours. It is a lot more clear for the viewers and the particular movements of the people in the video were a lot more smooth compared to ohaiyoo1.

c). I think that ohaiyoo2 is the better quality from the differences above and because it is faster by the amount of data that can flow in a given time as it is 48kbps and ohaiyoo1 is 38kbps.(kbps=kilobits per second-thousands of bits per second) It is also better quality as it has a higher resolution, colour depth and frame rate.

Exams are Over!!!

This is the first movie I have ever narrated in my life. My inspiration to make this film was that my exams were finally finished with 3 in one day. I was listening to the song 'When love takes Over' by Kelly Rowland and David Guetta and these words just started to flow into my mind. I got home and looked up the instructions on how narrate using audacity. Thankfully I had audacity already. I then found the song that I wanted and imported it onto audacity. After that I read through a long piece of infromation from wikipedia and I comprehended it. I then went to edit and preferences making sure I had clicked the 'play song while I am recording' button. I started recording and I did it about 6 times before I got it right. I probably looked like an idiot yelling into my computer.........but anyway. I compressed the song so that it would be smaller and I used the equalizer so it would be compatible or not sound like muffle on my phone. After that I tried changing the pitch of my voice but it didn't really work out so I left it like that. I then exported it as an mP3 file and inported it into movie maker where I added pictures from the internet and pictures that I had created myself. I also started using some video transitions as well.

I reckon the words are pretty witty and interesting I think. This is just another practice one leading up to the assignment. I also learnt new things as I was doing it like a little bit more on how to use audacity and more on moviemaker. WALLA!!!

Technical Stuff about Video

Introduction to Video Files
The video format that we use this term is digital video, the older format that we used to use was analog but as technology progresses everything is digital.
Analog signals use continuous varying wave forms that can be anywhere between the minimum and maximum points at any given time. Digital signals are only transmitted at precise points selected at particular intervals.
Some advantages of digital video is that digital video is more trustworthy and can complete jobs in a more efficient and easier way. For e.g. with digital it is much easier for the receiving end to distinguish between each noise. Noise might be electrical interference or static in the microphone. This is because digital uses the binary system using the numbers ‘1’ or ‘0’. It is much simpler than analog because analog can misinterpret the noise it can be any noise to analog as it does not use the binary system and it just makes an estimate. Also digital can check the message that was sent and how it was received and if there are any errors whilst analog is unable to do that.
Frame rate in video means the number of pictures shown per second. 10 frames per second make the video seem smooth to the human eye whilst anything under seems jerky. The higher the frame rate the smoother the playback.
Not all applications use the same frame rate. For e.g. in the theatre, movies normally use a frame rate of about 24 frames per second. Whilst things on television use a rate of about 30 frames per second. It really depends on which country you live in and the video quality that is used there.
Resolution is another factor that relates to the quality of an image. It is measured by the number of pixels horizontally multiplied by the number of pixels vertically. The higher the resolution the better the quality of the image.
The colour system called RGB means red, green and blue colours. The computer monitor displays these colours. In fact each pixel is made up of red, green and blue phosphate but these primary colours are so close together that when we look at them they are blended together and it looks like a single coloured dot. These colour components are normally called channels of a computer image. The computer usually stores the information for the red, green and blue colours with 8 bits for each colour. With 24 bits of information over a million different variations of colour can be produced from each pixel.
PAL, SECAM and NTSC are the 3 TV standards in use around the world. They all have standards for different countries normally when you buy a TV in your own country then they will conform to the standards of that country. You can translate between the various standards but the quality won’t be as good because of the differences in frame rate and resolution. The difference between them is that each standard is used in particular countries. The horizontal lines or the resolution and the frame rate.
In Australia we use the standard PAL.
The type of camera that you would need to have a Video Capture Card in your computer is and analog camera(video tape)
We do not need a Video Capture Card for what we are doing at school because we are using digital cameras. They already translate what they record into digital format inside the camera, whilst with an analog video you need a Video Capture Card to digitalize it so it can de read by the computer.
In basic forms an IEEE 1394 is a way of transferring data from the camcorder to your computer. It doesn’t really capture video just transfers. It can also be used as a transfer for other things as well. E.g. hard drives, scanners and networking.
Video Cameras use compression so they can store a lot more things while uncompressed they wouldn’t be able to store as much because it is a lot larger.
A codec compresses and decompresses the video. They are found in hardware such as capture cards or DVD camcorders or they can be found in software. Some have a fixed data rate and some have a wide range of data rate. It is very useful for editing your video.
Generation loss is when for example if you make a photocopy of a photocopy of a photocopy the quality will be really bad, but with a DV mixed with your digital computer if you make a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy of a copy and so on and so forth then the quality will be just as good as the original.

A Video/Ringtone Thingy

This is my favourite song right now. Gitchi-Gitchi-Goo means that I love you I know it's from disney channel but i like it so yeah.... I used movie maker and audacity to create this. I imported the track onto audacity, the file was already very short so there was no need to cut things out. I then fiddled around with equalization and compression so they would be able to play well on the mobile phone speakers. I then changed the speed to make it sound like the chipmunks an that made me crack up. I exported it as an mp3 and then imported it to moviemaker I added a picture from the internet and one that I made myself. This is just a quick practice ringtone.

Journal 5-IST Assignment

Oh jeez when will my bad luck end. I can't put my png. files onto gimp as I don't know how to because my computer won't play the tutorial on it. Ihave tried converting it into a .swf file so it could be put on my website that I created today as well. After that it was supposed to be easily uploaded to my blog. But noooooooo! It just wouldn'twork. even teste it on another animatin that I tested and it worked. I think my problem is that my animation is too big, although I already thouyght of that and mad a smaller one. I opened gimp and had a look but I didn't want to ruin my animation or else I'd be even more upset and frustrated and angry and annoyed and..... I can't think of an more words. Anyway I guess I'll just go to Sir an tell him that I have issues........ I mean my animation has issues.

Journal 4-IST Assigment

Yaaaaaaaaay, finally I finished all of my frames but I'm still not quite sure how to put them on my blog. I'm going to ask Sir because people are telling me I need to make a photobucket account and then upload it to there before I put it on my blog. They are also telling me to put my frames backwards when I add them on gimp to play or ele it ill playback the wrong way. I don't think it's going t be my lucky day when I try to put it on my blog. I know something is going to go wrong

Journal 3 IST Assignment

I am half way through exporting my frames and as I have been doing it I have changed my idea a little bit. I am going to make the the pink panther kind of loop through by making him stay in the crest but hang onto the 'R' for Ryan. Now I have abou 150 frames and still more to go. I'm aiming for about 300 frames at the most bt I probably will have to cut some out or scale them down so that it wil be able to fit on my blog. I'm aiming for a frme rate of about 7-10 frames/ second but i'm not quite sure yet.

Journal 2 IST Assignment

Here are some of my ideas to do with the pink panther animation

*Make the pink panther come in a spin the compass to piont the right way to courage

*For him to throw up the letters of Ryan but hitting the compass as they go past.

*For him to lean on the compass, and make it move while he holds onto it when it's spinning and then he flys of the screen while the compass points to the way to courage.

*The Ryan letters are all jumbled up and scattered around the compass. The panther comes in and then turns the wheel like on quiz shows and walks to the other side while the compass is busy spinning and putting the Ryan letters back into place.

I am going to choose the second option as I did find an image on the internet of a leaning pink panther and I don't think it will be that difficult to trace. I also chose this as I thought it best promoted my house out of all of the options. I kept in mind the time limit and my knowledge and this one was best proportioned within the time limit and I'm hoping it will be effective. I saved the image off the internet as an .svg so that it could be viewed on inkscape. Today, I started tracing the panther and filling the colours in and changing it a little bit so that it would stand out. I grouped each of the sections of my pink panther and placed it on the crest. I then started saving exporting the images as a .png. So far I have about 70 frames and I need to do a lot more.

Journal1- IST Assignment

I have had some difficulties blogging on Friday so I have tried again today. Over the past week I have been fiddling with and learning how to use inkscape and gimp, trying to see which program would be easier for me, personally to do my assignment. When using inkscape I have experimented with using the drawing boards that plug into your computer that can help you with drawing but I find it very difficult so I'm not going to use it. I have also been searching the internet and finding pictures that would best represent my house. For example pink panther, pig, flamingo or even a pink hippopotamus and also if I should use the Ryan house crest. When thinking about choosing one I have to keep in mind how long it will take me, how difficult it will be when choosing each of the pictures and if I have the resources and the skill yet to perform what I am expecting.

I have chosen to use the inkscape software as I feel I can understand it a lot better than gimp. Sir also used it in a lot of examples of things he showed to the class and he also recommended it to be the easiest one to use. I chose a flamingo and searched for it as an .svg file on wikimedia and found some results. I chose the best looking one. Then there was a difficulty, the flamingo could move itself but if I wantedif I wanted to make the neck move then it would be out of proportion to the first frame, it might be fatter or skinnier and it wouldn't flow, when it played. If I really want to do a flamingo sir said i would have to trace it. I made the decision not to because It would take a lot of time to trace and I flamingos don't do much and I couldn't animate it very well because of this. So I scrapped that idea.

This is a practice test run I did let's hope it works for my actal animation.

I chose to do the pink panther because it's familiar to people as it is present in cartoons and it could be animated in all sorts of ways and I didn't mind tracing it as it was similar to a drawing of a dog Sir demonstrated to us. Now, I'm thinking up ideas of how I can use the crest and the pink panther which is the mascot together. Maybe I could have it walkin and turn the compass round and round. HMMMmmmmm.

3Ding and Shadowing on Word

I never knew that you could do this it loooks sooo cool and I can use it for other assignments and stuff like that. I used enlarging on the lightning strike, shadowing on the moon and I clicked and dragged the yellow dot that was on the rainbow one.

The 3 Little Piggies-word document

Hi Sir, do you like it. It's my favourite story. I did this on word and Ithink I followed the instructions carefully. Firstly I got the cube tool and the free form toll to draw the house. I drew a few squares with the rectangle tool. Then I drew a million cicles for 1 pig. Well, I guess I'm over exaggerating but it seemed like forever, I copied the different sized circles to create the other to pigs also. I used the 3-D style tool on the pigs arms and for the cute little ears I used the pentagon tool. For the backround I used fill effects and chose preset colours, ocean . I then went to word art to create the heading 'The 3 Little Pigs!' I then inserted a sun and used fill effects again. As it said on the instructions I made speach bubbles for each of the pigs and and chose the chiller font. I then chose the text box tool to create the homewarming mat at the front of the house. I then created the grass with the freeform tool and filled it in green. I like this piece of work and it actually turned out better than I thought it would.

8 of Clubs

Let's Play Cards

24-Bitmap image

Monochrome image

I created these images by using the tools in paint. I use the elipse tool, I used the text tool, the line tool, the select tool, the fill tool, copy and paste and flip to make copies of my clubs and flip them upsidedown. First I drew a cicle with the elipse tool, then I filled it in with the fill tool and drew 2 more circles. I used the straight line tool to draw the triangle at the bottom and then I copy and pasted 9 more clubs and used the select tool to position them. I flipped 6 clubs and made 2 smaller to go underneath the number 8 which I created with the text tool and finallly I finished PLAYING CARDS.

Monochrome Bitmap=7.56 KB

24-Bitmap=180 KB

There is a difference in the file size because monochrome only has 2 colours, Black and White and the pixels only have those colours when it is saved as monochrome. A 24 bit map image has many colours and shows all of these colours within the pixels which makes it better quality and more defined as a black and white image contains other colours than just black and white as you can see.
