Let's Play Cards
24-Bitmap image
Monochrome image
I created these images by using the tools in paint. I use the elipse tool, I used the text tool, the line tool, the select tool, the fill tool, copy and paste and flip to make copies of my clubs and flip them upsidedown. First I drew a cicle with the elipse tool, then I filled it in with the fill tool and drew 2 more circles. I used the straight line tool to draw the triangle at the bottom and then I copy and pasted 9 more clubs and used the select tool to position them. I flipped 6 clubs and made 2 smaller to go underneath the number 8 which I created with the text tool and finallly I finished PLAYING CARDS.
Monochrome Bitmap=7.56 KB
24-Bitmap=180 KB
There is a difference in the file size because monochrome only has 2 colours, Black and White and the pixels only have those colours when it is saved as monochrome. A 24 bit map image has many colours and shows all of these colours within the pixels which makes it better quality and more defined as a black and white image contains other colours than just black and white as you can see.

Digital Art............Real Art?
"Is Digital Art is valid form of Art"
(Painting on Canvas Pelican)
Of course digital art is. Movie making is, dancing is, creating an emboidery design on the computer to sew is and even muffin decorating is, so why not Digital Art.
Some people criticise digital art as being fake or unreal art and that the computer is doing all of the work. Of couse the computer helps us but we come up with the idea and create it with the tools on the computer to help us, just as paint, a brush and a canvas helps people who have the paint to paper skill. A florist arranges flowers but does not create the flowers but needs assisstance from the garden.
A definiton of art from an art teacher is that anything can be art as long as it has a meaning behind it. Anything can have a meaning, a movie, a dance even flower arranging. Digital Art can have a meaning behind it just as much as paint to canvas can. Dictionary.com defines art as "the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance." Digital art can show all of these things, it can express feelings through different shades of colour and techniques.
The advantages of Digital art is speed, creative control and being more precise in your work. Digital art has more speed than painting, take the paint software on the computer for example, it gives you more creative control. If you make a mistake its just a click of a button and its fixed but with canvas you have to find the exact colour again and then figure out a way to paint over it without showing your mistake. Digital art also offers more speed. Click, click, click and away you go straight lines curvy lines thick and thin light red dark red in just seconds with so much variety. Digital art is also very precise. Have you ever tried and tried to get the shape of the eyes right on a portrait but you've just can't. Well that's where digital arts exactness comes in.
The skills that you would need to create digital art is computer skills, the right software and you would need to research and study the software tools so you know how to use them. You would also need creativity, perspective and to be passionate about what you are doing.
Digital art is much better than an a paintbrush to paper because digital is more precise, faster and gives you more creative control while expressing your feelings at the same time. Anything is art if it has a meaning.
(Digital Art WOOOOOWWW!)
